"For those professionals that travel a lot, already have their laptop for other reasons, and need to determine the quickest route to get to 20 locations that day, IT IS AWESOME. I have never owned or operated a small dashmount GPS unit, but I doubt that you can take enter several locations quikly into it. I can import my Outlook contacts into it in about 5 seconds. I then tell it to find me the quickest route for my 20+ stops, while at the same time considering that I need to be somewhere precisely at noon for a lunch meeting. Can a dashmount unit do that?

What it comes down to is your needs/habits. I have a laptop mount in my vehicle and an inverter to keep it powered. Im not a truck driver but they love this product!" - rcurry71

"The cool thing about Streets and Trips is it's planning tools. It also looks better than any other mapping package I've played with." -ss_Whiplash

NOTE: Streets & Trips iwill work with 3rd party NMEA 2.0 compliant GPS devices.  The Garmin Zumo 550 is unfortunately one device that does not support NMEA out.

Streets and Trips 2008 Demo: CS

Streets and Trips  2008 is scheduled to hit the shelves this week! We are really excited to deliver many of the features travellers have been asking for.  Our premium version is the "Connected Services" edition which comes with a combination GPS/MSN Direct receiver that will show you the information you need as it happens like:

    • Traffic updates & road conditions so you don't have to waste time because of a stalled vehicle blocking a lane ahead.
    • The MSN direct receiver also provides you with gas station locations and gas price information.  I love this because I like to save money at the pump like anyone else and I don't always know where the cheap gas stations are located outside my area of familiarity.
I found this cool video which demonstrates the new Connected Services features of Streets and Trips 2008. :-)

August Construction Files are ready for download

Time to download the latest construction file for August.  This is a free download currently available to users of both MapPoint and Streets & Trips from 2004 to the current release.

The recommended and easiest way to download is from within the application.  Simply create a route and you'll be prompted to download the updated construction file in the itinerary pane.  It is also available via the microsoft download center.
